Our federal government recently launched the Canada Greener Homes Grant, which will provide up to $5,600 to Canadian homeowners for retrofits that will make their homes more energy-efficient. Up to $5,000 will be given for eligible upgrades to the home and up to $600 towards the cost of pre and post-upgrade home evaluations by an EnerGuide.
An EnerGuide energy advisor will conduct a home evaluation to help homeowners understand how their home uses energy and will provide expert advice on which upgrades are best suited for their home.
An energy-efficient upgrade can include insulation, air sealing, upgrading your windows and doors, heating and cooling systems such as heat pumps, smart thermostats, and the installation of solar panels.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant is a seven-year, $2.6B investment that will help Canadians upgrade their homes and lower their home's carbon footprint. It will help as many as 700,000 Canadians to make their homes more energy-efficient, more comfortable to live in, and more affordable.
This program will not only help homeowners with saving money on energy bills and making their homes more affordable but will also help us create jobs and meet our climate goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
