Dear friends,
As we begin to ease restrictions and take steps to restart the economy, our federal government is working closely with our provincial and municipal counterparts, so that we can keep our communities safe and healthy.
Last week, our federal government made several announcements that will continue to support Canadians as we fight against COVID-19. We announced an extension to the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), financial support for Canadian researchers, as well as a new nation-wide contact tracing app, which is an important step in containing the COVID-19 virus in Canada. More details on these announcements are below.
At our virtual parliament meetings, we continue to have great discussion and debate on many issues that are important to Canadians. During one of our sessions, I had the opportunity to speak on behalf of our community and express my appreciation for the hardworking staff at the Victoria General Hospital, which continues to serve our community well. You can watch my statement, here.
As we head into the final weeks of June, I want to take a moment to congratulate the Class of 2020, who will be graduating in the coming days. I know that the current environment we find ourselves in is not how you imagined your high school years to come to an end. Although you may not have a typical graduation ceremony, you should still be immensely proud of your hard work and achievements.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.
Sincerely,
Terry Duguid
Member of Parliament
Winnipeg South
